Lakhs of students pass out their 12th class every
year from different Boards of School Education. After this, they try to get
admission in specific streams of education like medical, engineering, computer
of Business Administration or Law etc. But this is not an easy task. Before
taking admission they have to compete and qualify entrance exams/tests with
flying colors. Seats are limited and aspirants are thousands and thousand time more than number
of seats in each competitive exam.
Nowadays, it is a normal thing to get 70 or 80 percent
numbers. Some brilliant students get up to 99 percent numbers. It is just like
to pluck stars from the sky to get admission simply on the basis of qualifying
examination. Everybody tries his luck. In the first attempt rate of success is
down to one percent. First attempt is just introductory.
Then most of the aspirants look towards coaching center.
Coaching centers have been cropped up just like mushrooms in every part of the
country. The obtain huge fees from the aspirants of the competitive exams. The stay and halt arrangement for specific
coaching period also costs much more the fees. For one year coaching of
engineering or medical entrance expenditure of more than one lakh Rupees is
normal. Same is the case with coaching for civil services exam. But see the
irony when candidates appear in real examination, success percentage is very
low. Not more than ten percent of students succeed in getting admission in the
desired courses. There may be exception from one coaching centre to another.
This situation creates a feeling fear in the minds of those
students who do not succeed in getting admission despite of having obtained
coaching. They feel guilty and some time they go under the grip of mental stress and dipression.
Their parents also rebuke them and say that they have wasted precious time and
money. After all , money can not be earned overnight nor it grows on trees. Parents ooze out their
sweat for earning money. They see the dreams
that one day their son or daughter would be standing on such dignified
position to whom they had dreamed one day when they were young like their
children. Some other parents who are in
good monetary position and status are in worry that their children should
obtain such high position equivalent to their status. Over and above this every
body, whether children or their parents are in worry of future and bread and
butter of their children in their future life.
These types of students, which once obtained coaching once again
try their destiny by obtaining another spell of coaching either in the same
coaching institution or other. An instinct of gambling crops up in their mind. Here,
one criteria is to check such coaching centers by pass percentage of the
students. But this criteria do not fit every year. about 5 to 10 percent of
students gain success in second or third attempt. After this, unsuccessful
candidates get fainted and clearly understand that it is out of their capacity
to get success. They admit this as their ultimate capacity and destiny and
switch over to other fields. Instinct of Sheep’s movement is also responsible
for this type of un-success.
Now, come to other segment of the society. There large number
of such parents and families whose earning is up to hand to mouth. They do not
possess such resources and money in order to have imparted coaching to their
children. Though there may be many students in this category who may get
admission to medical or engineering colleges if they get chance of coaching.
Brilliant students of this category have been seen working in the jobs of bus
conductors, clerks, multi tasking staff etc. though their mental status is of high status. They compromise with the destiny.
Here, it is pertinent to say that coaching always yield good
result but the rates are so much high that persons of ordinary earning capacity
can not afford this. Other thing is uncertainty of learning capacity of their
children. Once children move out of their homes to a new atmosphere they are interacted
to new students, persons and climate. Most of children are get lost in the
glitter of cities and forget their main goal.
There are so many persons whose earning and resources are
considerably high. When they see that their child is not able to get admission
to any Government College or University, they get their child admitted to private
colleges and universities by paying ten to twenty times admission charges and fees.
Here, the victim is lower middle class and lower class. They
are not able to get admission to professional courses and they think that it is
their destiny that they and their children are born in middle or lower class. They abandon the thought of competition and compete for higher status.
You have seen Olympic games held in London recently. Then you
might have seen that how much practice the players had done to win Gold, silver
of Bronze medals. Their approach was target oriented, they possesses great will
power, their coaches exerted much power to carve the champions. Similarly
efforts are needed to be done. Eklavya
was not allowed to learn Astra-shastra
education with Kauravas and Pandavas but
it was his determination that he supposed Dronacharaya
his guru and acquired as much high level as was that of Arjuna. So the target should be fixed
and thousand efforts should be done to achieve it.
Aristotle has said that man is his own judge. In my opinion this
is correct but I would like to add that while delivering judgment regarding own
self, a person always commit an error and gives a partial decision leaning
toward his side. Therefore, guidance and coaching is necessary. Because in
coaching classes, tests are conducted frequently. Practice makes a man perfect
but logic not be created even by practice.
Mock tests and comparison is quite necessary at every stag of competition. If in the first instance a candidate has 19 number, these can be converted into 91 out of 100. On the other hand, if a brilliant student remains in the illusion that he is evergreen brilliant, he may come down. Don't create a sentiment of pride in mind.If mind is kept idle it will start loosing memory. Constant practice and time management is very much important.

Through the various posts of this blog, effort is being made
to sow a seed of logic in the minds of readers especially students to boost up
their mind power and give strength to their morale. The readers can interact through their emails. They may
project their views and problems. Every Endeavor will be made to suggest best methods to tackle problems being faced by students
Remember story of King Bruce and the Spider. Practice always makes a man perfect. Constant practice and time management always yields fruits. Hpwever, you have to beat laziness hidden inside you. Beat laziness with the stick of Hard Work and proper Time Management. The numbers secured in Board or University Examinations are not so important in competitive examinations. These may be by way of sheer chance of luck. But in competitive exams you will be tested three dimensionally. So tight your belts right now.
